It is with great sadness we must inform you of the passing of Tony Rumble on Wednesday 3rd November 2021.
Tony was not only a great husband, father, Grandfather but also a dear friend to a lot of people who will be sadly missed.
Over the years Tony has not only dedicated his life to his family but also his second family Chingford Rugby Club. Tony joined the club when his son Nick started playing at the age of 9, some 24 years ago & in 2005 was elected club president. The role he carried out for 4 years, diligently & with pride alongside his wife Carol who also took on the role of club Treasurer. More recently Tony, who could not stay away from the club took on a new role of Facilities manager, again something he wanted to do for the benefit of the club.
Tony was very generous & over the years has sponsored many teams and Tours through his business, TC Rumble Electrical Contractors & this season again agreed to pay towards kit for the senior teams.
Not content with sponsoring kit Tony has also been known to pay club subscriptions for players who were not in a position to financially do so, allowing players to enjoy what our club has to offer.
Tony has never asked for any recognition for his works at the club although he did like to remind everyone & point out his name on the club board when he served as president!
Tony’s Funeral will take place on Tuesday 30th November at the City of London Crematorium Aldersbrook Road E12 5DQ at the North Chapel.
The service will start 12.15pm.
There will then be a celebration of Tony’s life held at his beloved Chingford Rugby Club, Waltham Way E4 8AQ.
Nick has organised a collection through a Go Fund me page https://gofund.me/6a1f7a81 with all donations going towards a project at Chingford Rugby Club in Tony’s memory. At this time there is no decision on what the project will be & this will be discussed with the club, members, and his family to honour what a great man he was.
